Kargher Chocolate was established in 1977 by Doug Kargher, a chef whose original chocolate recipe became the foundation of the business. Over the years, members of the Kargher family played an important role, but Doug remained the driving force behind Kargher Chocolate and the quality customers have come to know.

As the company grew, Kargher expanded its offerings with chips, nonpareils, and specialty products while maintaining a strong commitment to kosher and allergen-free chocolate chips. Private-label chip manufacturing became one of the company’s defining strengths, and Kargher nonpareils found their way into bulk chocolate displays throughout the United States.
